Quiet Connections in Saltash
Saltash Creative Get-Together
A free, relaxed creative afternoon for quieter young people aged 13 to 17
Tuesday 25 August 2026 | 2pm to 4pm | Free
Saltash Studios, Saltash
For young people who are introverted, shy or highly sensitive, experience social anxiety, or prefer quieter, lower-pressure ways of being with other people.
Spend a couple of hours creating alongside other young people, with something to do together and no pressure to be chatty or confident.
Book your free placeA quieter way to spend time together
Sometimes being around new people feels easier when there's something to do at the same time.
That's the idea behind this afternoon. There'll be creative activities around the room that you can explore at your own pace, so you won't need to arrive and immediately think of something to say.
You might chat with someone while you're making something, work quietly alongside other people, or mostly focus on what you're doing.
You don't need to fit a particular label, know anybody who's coming or think of yourself as creative. If a quieter, lower-pressure way of being around other people sounds more comfortable to you, you're very welcome.
Meet Ellie
Ellie from Quiet Connections will be there to welcome everyone, help people settle in and join in with the afternoon too.
You don't need to know anybody before you arrive. If you'd like to ask something beforehand, email eleanor@quietconnections.co.uk . A parent or carer is welcome to get in touch too.
What to expect
We're keeping the get-together small, with up to 10 places.
There'll be time to arrive, choose somewhere to sit, get a drink and have a look around before deciding what you'd like to do.
There won't be an icebreaker or a point where everybody has to introduce themselves to the whole group.
You can talk to people if you want to, mostly keep to yourself, switch between activities or get absorbed in one thing. There's no particular way you need to join in.
Creative activities to explore
There'll be a few different activities around the room, with materials, examples and simple instructions. Explore whatever interests you and move between them if you want to.
Reframe Quiet
Explore quietness through words, colour and images. Create something of your own or begin with one of our Reframe Quiet colouring sheets.
HushFest song lyric art
Listen to the HushFest song through headphones and make something inspired by a lyric, feeling or idea that stands out to you.
Have a go at crochet
There'll be wool, crochet hooks and simple beginner patterns. It's completely fine if you've never tried crochet before.
Everything you need is here
We'll also have colouring, word searches and simple writing prompts, as well as tea and coffee. Headphones and an MP3 player will be available for the HushFest song.
You're welcome to bring an art, craft, writing or other creative project of your own, or use your own phone and headphones if you'd rather.
From HushFest to Saltash
This get-together carries forward some of the ideas from HushFest, Cornwall's Festival of Quietness , creating more ways for quieter people to connect, create and take part.
We're planning HushFest again for 2027, when Quiet Connections turns 10, with more opportunities for quieter young people to contribute and take part.
