Quiet Connections in Saltash
Saltash Creative Get-Together
A free, relaxed creative afternoon for quieter adults
Thursday 20 August 2026 | 2pm to 4pm | Free
Saltash Studios, Saltash
For adults who are introverted, shy or highly sensitive, experience social anxiety, or simply prefer quieter, lower-pressure ways of being with other people.
Spend a couple of hours creating alongside other quieter people, connecting in your own way or simply enjoying some quiet company.
Book your free placeA gentle way to spend time with others
Sometimes it's easier to be with people when there's something to do together.
Rather than arriving and having to make conversation straight away, there'll be creative activities to gather around. You might find yourself chatting while you make something, enjoying being quietly alongside somebody else, or getting completely absorbed in what you're doing.
The creativity gives us a natural focus for being together. You don't need to be particularly creative, sociable or confident to come along.
You don't need to fit a particular label or know anybody who's coming. If a calmer, lower-pressure way of spending time with other people appeals to you, you're very welcome.
Meet Ellie
Ellie from Quiet Connections will be there to welcome everyone, help people settle in and join in with the afternoon too.
You don't need to know anybody before you arrive. If it would help to ask something beforehand, email eleanor@quietconnections.co.uk .
What to expect
We're keeping the get-together small, with up to 10 places.
There'll be time to arrive, get a drink, choose somewhere to sit and get used to the room before deciding what you'd like to do.
There won't be an icebreaker or an expectation to introduce yourself to the whole group.
You can move between activities, stay with one thing, chat with somebody nearby or create quietly alongside other people. Conversation is welcome, but it isn't expected.
Creative activities to explore
There'll be a few different activities around the room, with materials, examples and simple instructions. Explore whatever catches your interest and move between them if you want to.
Reframe Quiet
Explore quietness and the qualities you value in yourself and other quieter people through words, colour and images. Make something of your own or begin with one of our Reframe Quiet colouring sheets.
HushFest song lyric art
Listen to the HushFest song through headphones and use a lyric, feeling or idea that catches your attention as a starting point for something creative.
Textiles and beginner crochet
Have a go with wool, crochet hooks and simple beginner patterns. It's completely fine if you've never tried crochet before.
Everything you need is here
We'll also have colouring, word searches and simple writing prompts, as well as tea and coffee. Headphones and an MP3 player will be available for the HushFest song.
You're welcome to bring a creative project of your own, or use your own phone and headphones if you'd prefer.
From HushFest to Saltash
This get-together carries forward some of the ideas from HushFest, Cornwall's Festival of Quietness , creating more ways for quieter people to connect, create and take part.
We're planning HushFest again for 2027, when Quiet Connections turns 10, and we'd also love to hear what quieter people in Saltash might enjoy locally in future.
